Tutorial {Authentique Paper}

{As seen today on the Authentique Paper blog}

Starting today, you can stop by the Authentique Paper blog the first four Sundays of each month and find a fabulous tutorial from one of the Authentique Paper Design Team members.

Today I will be showing you how to create a notepad cover for a 5x8 notepad from just a single 12x12 sheet of Authentique's beautiful paper.

Start by scoring your 12x12 sheet at 5", 5.25", 10.25", and 10.5".
Rotate your paper a quarter turn and score at 1", 1.25", and 9.25".

{I like to score on the side of the paper that will be the inside of the cover.}

Cut along the score marks as shown below.

{Score marks are red lines and cut marks are black lines.}

You will be left with this:

{I like to pre-fold at the score lines to make assembly easier.}

Insert the notepad and glue in place. Glue along the left edge of the bottom flap to create the pocket.

{I trimmed off a bit of the inside corner of the pocket flap to create the angle.}

To create the closure, use two of the circle die cuts from the Icons sheet, add a bit of string and add a small amount of adhesive in the center of each die cut to hold in place.

Punch a hole in the center of each circle and set an eyelet.

{Now you can close the cover just by wrapping the string around the die cuts in a figure eight.}

To make the notepad itself a bit more personalized, I added stamped images and sentiments every few pages.

I took some of the paper that was cut away from the original 12x12 sheet of paper and made a small coordinating card - now it's a fun little gift set!

{Wouldn't it be fun to tuck these in a backpack to surprise your little one as they head back to school?}

Thanks for stopping by today!
